Tanja Dögg Björnsdóttir

Tanja Dögg is a co-founder, CEO and psychologist at Mín líðan. Tanja diagnoses and treats mental health problems in young people and adults and uses only evidence-based methods. She is particularly interested in helping those who struggle with social anxiety, depression and low self-esteem, have been through trauma and those who have experienced mental distress during pregnancy and after childbirth.

Expertise and field of interest

Tanja is specialized in the treatment of symptoms of depression, anxiety and low self-esteem. She primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help people work with mental health problems. Tanja has experience working with trauma and uses Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Tanja has experience working with mental health issues during pregnancy and after childbirth and received training at the women's department at The National Hospital of Iceland. Tanja also provides treatment for all kinds of anxiety as well as reducing stress, improving quality of life and dealing with personal challenges. 

Education and work experience

Tanja Dögg got her Cand. Psych degree in clinical psychology from the University of Iceland in 2015 and became a licensed psychologist in the same year. She got professional training at the department of psychiatry and the women's department of The National Hospital of Iceland and at The Psychological Counseling for University Students. Tanja Dögg completed a B.Sc. degree in psychology from the University of Iceland in 2012.

Tanja has worked as a psychologist at Mín líðan since 2018, where provides online therapy sessions. Previously she worked at Domus Mentis mental health center from 2017-2019 where she made diagnosis and treated mental health problems in young people and adults. From 2015-2016, she worked at The Center for Development and Behavior (Þroska- og hegðunarstöð) where she made diagnosis in children and young adults.
