Alida Ósk Smáradóttir

Alida Ósk is a psychologist at Mín líðan and provides online therapy sessions for young people and adults. Alida has a lot of experience with ADHD diagnoses in adults, but she previously worked in the psychiatric department of Landspítali (the National University Hospital of Iceland). Alida uses evidence-based methods to reduce mental health problems and is particularly interested in the treatment of ADHD and anxiety disorders (e.g. social anxiety and generalized anxiety disorder).

Expertise and field of interest

Alida only uses evidence-based methods in diagnosis and treatment and relies primarily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She has experience in providing psychotherapy for ADHD symptoms, which is one of her areas of expertise. Alida provides online therapy sessions for all types of mental health problems, but is particularly interested in helping people struggling with ADHD and anxiety disorders.

Education and work experience

Alida has been working as a licensed psychologist since 2017 and got her Cand. Psych in clinical psychology the same year. She received training at the outpatient psychiatric department of The National Hospital of Iceland (Landspítalinn), where she made diagnosis and provided treatment for mental health problems in adults. She also received training at Psychological Counseling for University Students. She completed her B.Sc. degree in psychology from the University of Iceland in 2012 and a matriculation degree from the Iceland Business School in 2009.

Alida has been working as a psychologist at Mín líðan since 2020, where she provides remote interviews. Previously, she worked at the psychiatric department of the National Hospital of Iceland, where she made diagnosis and provided treatment for adults, especially with symptoms of ADHD. She previously worked as a special education teacher in a kindergarten and in a co-housing for people with mental disabilities.

Alida has attended three courses that are part of a specialist training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Iceland, i.e. workshops for generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and psychotic disorders.
